It is a Catholic
School and the Responsible Authority is the Dominican Sisters. It offers
education to a total of 680 boys and girls. Our school Motto is VERITAS,
which means TRUTH and our aim, as a Dominican School is essentially concerned
with:
- The education and development of the whole person that is spiritually,
intellectually, emotionally, physically, morally and socially.
- Respect for each person and a respect for life.
- The development of a positive relationship to self, God and neighbour
as well as to society and the environment.
- Pursuing the truth in all disciplines.
- Acquisitions of self-discipline for the sake of personal growth and
good community relationships.
- Promoting the values of the Kingdom of God namely truth, love, justice,
peace, mercy, and forgiveness.
- A professional approach to teaching
- Producing citizens with integrity, honesty, responsibility, self-reliance
and commitment.
- Fostering a community spirit with the students
- Recognising that all people, poor and rich, healthy or handicapped,
of different national, cultural and religious backgrounds need education
and can enrich one another.
At the end of the 4 or 6 years here at St John's High the question we
will ask ourselves is not "how many 'A' Grades did one get?"
but "What has the student become in life". Our students are
known for their concern for others and their community.
